Good bourbon and plenty of crushed ice are the keys to a great mint julep, but the quintessential Kentucky Derby cocktail can pack a punch. We added fizzy Duplin Sweet Lily white wine to lighten up this Southern classic.
Ingredients:
6 fresh mint leaves
2 teaspoons brown sugar
4 ounces bourbon whiskey
2 cups crushed ice
Duplin Sweet Lily sparkling white wine
Mint sprigs for garnish
Directions:
Place 3 mint leaves in each of 2 rocks or high ball glasses.
Add 1 teaspoon of brown sugar to each glass.
Muddle the mint and the brown sugar.
Pour 2 ounces of bourbon into each glass.
Pack crushed ice in to the glasses.
Fill glasses to the rim with Duplin Sweet Lily.
Garnish each glass with a bunch of fresh mint springs.
